It’s a short week here in Singapore, so in turn we have a short post for you. We thought about the meaning of the Chinese New Year, how it aligns investing goals, and our one wish for all of you. Click here to read our latest blog.
Farrer Fun Fact
Generational frustration? The GameStop saga brought up several conversations about younger generations missing out on wealth and this chart shows that those points may have validity (source: taken Prof. Galloway’s latest post, which was quite a good read).
Articles and Videos of the Week
Morgan Housel has to be one of the sharpest thinkers in the investing world, and this 2013 guide on how to invest during market crashes is really smart. It is a 2 minute read and well worth it.
Our friend Ahmed H. writes the “A Few Things” blog which we read weekly. In one his most recent posts he discusses the Theory of Reflexivity and how talks of a bubble may be overblown as talks about a bubble are overblown. Its a great insight from someone who called the bottom in 2020.
An interview with Eric Seufert was featured on Ben Thompson’s Stratechery blog discussing Facebook, Apple, and mobile advertising. That led us to his 2018 post about how Facebook doesn’t sell user data, as nobody would buy it.
This twitter thread on luck vs skill in manager selection was really insightful, and we agreed with most of it. If you’re trying to evaluate a fund manger, its a must read.
We had written a mini-thesis on IAC a few months ago for our clients, and with the upcoming Vimeo spinoff we’ve posted it along with our prior research. Click here to read it (note, not investment advice).
